New Assessment category added to EMT PASS

A new Assessment (scene/primary/secondary) category in the Review module has been added to EMT PASS to help students prepare for the new NREMT exam starting April 7, 2025. The exam questions are currently being updated and recalibrated to the new EMT blueprint.

EMT Review Plus Exam Update

EMT Review Plus exams have been updated from 100 questions to 125. Additional Assessment content and TEIs have been added to more closely match the new NREMT exam starting on April 7, 2025. We added diagnostic scoring to the exams and an NREMT scoring breakdown at the end of each exam.

EMT Review Plus Starting 1/29/25, we will be rolling out a total of 135 new Study cards and Review questions into the three new categories: Scene Size Up, Primary Assessment, and Secondary Assessment. This change will help students prepare for the new NREMT domains.

The 5 EMT Review Plus tests are now being revised and recalibrated to match the new NREMT BLS blueprint. Look for these changes coming by the end of February.

EMT PASS is also being updated and we announce those changes very soon!

How Close am I to Passing the NREMT?

This is one of the most common questions we get from people who failed the NREMT. After your test, the NREMT gives you a numerical score and nothing else. What does it mean and how do you proceed? Let's take a few moments to answer this important question.

Stop Thinking of the NREMT Score as a Percentage
A passing NREMT score is 950. The highest possible score is 1500, while the lowest possible is 100.

You've been conditioned by classroom exams to think that every test has a clear-cut score with a percentage grade. The NREMT isn't like that. It has a complex algorithm that uses multiple factors to determine the grade. Rather than one simple calculation of right vs wrong, the NREMT has many. Think of it as a soup where question difficulty, topic areas, and question types are the main ingredients. The recipe is adjusted frequently to make sure that it correctly determines entry-level competence. Throw in some serious mathematical analysis and psychometrics (the science of assessment and measurement)and you've got the soup. With a recipe only the NREMT knows and they don't share.

What does this mean? It means that interpreting your grade is more than looking at a number. You've got to dig deep and look not only at the score but at how you prepared for the exam.

NREMT Performance Scenarios added to ALS products

In the Test module, we have added scenario-style tests to the ALS products (AEMT Review, AEMT PASS, Paramedic Review, Paramedic PASS). You will find one scenario each AEMT product and two in each Paramedic product.

This style of question began appearing on the NREMT's cognitive exam in Spring 2023 and will be in the pilot stage for a while as the NREMT prepares for the elimination of the psychomotor exam. The concept is to test for clinical judgment, leadership, and communication in ALS candidates.

Each scenario contains 10-12 questions that run the user through a scenario from En Route to on Scene to Post Scene. After each question, additional information is given.

All four Paramedic Review Plus exams have just been revised and published. Changes include:

1) Updated content for airway and cardiology to match updated AHA Guidelines
2) New NREMT style questions (Multiple Response) questions added
3) New diagnostic scoring component

These changes were rolled out to all customers, there is no need to download any additional files.

All testing apps are eligible for return for 24 hours.
